Was Adam and Eve Your Ancestors?
Do you believe the Bible? Every last word? What if you were told that if you believed the account in Genesis that Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, you were "sticking your head in the sand" and you will "lose whatever intellectual currency or respectability you have."
Well that is what this article HERE is saying. In my opinion, it is very biased and one sided. What the article basically says is that there is no way that every one came from Adam and Eve. The scientists say they can not get the population size below 10,000 people at any time in our evolutionary history. Note key word there, evolutionary. They are trying to support their theories with evolution.
They are also trying to belittle Christians with the quotes like the one I started my post with. The quote in it's entirety is, "This stuff is unavoidable," says Dan Harlow at Calvin College. "Evangelicals have to either face up to it or they have to stick their head in the sand. And if they do that, they will lose whatever intellectual currency or respectability they have."
I like what Albert Mohler of the Southern Baptist seminary said in response. "If so, that's simply the price we'll have to pay," says Southern Baptist seminary's Albert Mohler. "The moment you say 'We have to abandon this theology in order to have the respect of the world,' you end up with neither biblical orthodoxy nor the respect of the world."
I was also very disappointed with Fazale Rana who is vice president of Reasons To Believe (I am not familiar with this organization) was stated in the article that she "readily admits that small details of Scripture could be wrong." She believes that the account of Adam and Eve is historically accurate, but other small details could be wrong.
In my opinion, the Bible is not wrong. I believe that we all came from Adam and Eve, no matter how hard it is for the scientists to explain. I believe that if we start to doubt any of the scriptures, our faith will become weak.
I encourage you all to go and read the article for your selves. It made my faith increase (probably the opposite effect they were going for!).
I will leave you with 2 Timothy 3:13-17. Have a blessed day!
13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
