Being Strong

Although this blog is dedicated towards children, I will occasionally write a post to you moms out there. Today is one of those days.

Ephesians 6:10 says, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." There has been many days were I feel weak. I am not talking about physically weak, because I will face it, I am definitely that! I am talking about spiritually week. Where your soul thirsts for a drink. Where, instead of longing for your cup to run over, you just pray that your cup gets a drop.

I have been in this place many times. If you are a Christian, more than likely you know what I'm talking about. How can we go about "being strong" and having our cup running over once again?

I believe that it all comes down to prayer and Bible time. I know that during these dry times, you more than likely ease up on your prayer and Bible time. I know that I have. You just can't gain the strength to get through them daily. That is what our adversary, the Devil, wants us to do. If he can get us to skip one prayer time, then we are more apt to miss the next one. Then days turn into weeks and you wonder why you are feeling so spiritually dry.

I believe that during these dry times is a prime opportunity to gain strength. If you decide to give up your reading and prayer time, then you will more than likely loose strength. If you were a marathon runner and had a big race coming up would you pour your heart and soul into training, or would you set back and think, "Aw, I have trained so many times before, I don't need anymore training."

Come race day, you would be very weak, and perhaps not even able to finish the race. Think about your life as a race that we are training daily for a "win." Our win will not be prize's or money. Our victory will be being able to see Jesus face to face one day.

There may be days, weeks maybe even months that you feel dry, but muster all your strength and kneel down and start your training.

I have been in this place many times before, so don't think I am perfect. I know that I have wondered before if I will ever feel God's presence again. But if you keep praying, keep reading, He will bring you out and once again you can "be strong."

  1. It is so easy to let our prayer and bible reading time go but, you are right, that is the only thing that keeps us going at times.
